WHAT IS THE NSB PLAYHOUSE?
The new Playhouse by Next Step Broadway is an all encompassing musical theatre performance department. The Playhouse is open to all ages 4+ that wish to develop their musical and theatrical abilities. Not only will students learn a foundation for theatrical performance, but they gain confidence, performance experience, teamwork, and a love for the theatre.
PERFORMANCES
NSB Playhouse will offer multiple performance opportunities throughout the year. Through cabarets, showcases, and more, the performers at The Playhouse will be no stranger to the audience. Not to mention our winter play and spring musical!
FEE STRUCTURE
NSB Playhouse has options to add different disciplines of classes with discounts available the more classes you take! The spring and winter productions are fixed fees, and a second NSB Playhouse class is required to participate.

CLASSES THROUGH NSB PLAYHOUSE:
Musical Theatre -
LIGHTS UP! It’s showtime. This class gives performers the skills to take a song from just music to a stage ready number. With focuses on singing, ensemble work, and musicality, Musical Theatre class is the place to expand on the tools every performer needs! This is a singing class with incorporated movement. (ages 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, & 10+)
Acting -
“To be, or not to be?” That is the question performers in this class will be asking! With this class, you will learn to create living characters, what goes into a scene, and how to work with scene partners through acting and reacting. It is through the acting that an audience can feel connected to a performance. (ages 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, & 10+)
Open Musical Theatre Dance -
5, 6, 7, 8! This class will teach Broadway-style dance inspired by Broadway shows both old and new. Students will learn and practice jazz and ballet technique while also perfecting their performance skills so they are ready to shine when that spotlight turns on! (ages 6+)
How to Audition -
Between headshots, resumes, and audition books, performers in this class will get a grasp on what going into an audition room is like and the tools to land that big role! Students will gain confidence performing on their own in an audition while also leaving with practical skills they can take to any audition they may have now or in the future. (ages 10+)
Acting, Improv, & More -
This mini-series class will bring together your performers’ love of acting while also giving them the opportunity to apply these lessons to different acting areas and learn some exciting new skills! This class will be taught in monthly segments with the final performance being a show created and performed by the students utilizing the skills they have learned over the semester. The monthly series will be as follows: January - Improv! February - Stage Combat! March - Puppetry! April/May - Create Your Own Musical! (ages 8+)
Vocal Technique -
Returning after much success last year, this class focuses on vocal performance and, as is in the name, vocal technique! Students will each be assigned a solo number that they will then perfect and practice over the semester to perform on stage at our end of the year performance. (ages 7+)
Mommy & Me Music -
Do you have a toddler who loves to sing and dance? We now have the perfect class for them to express their love of music - plus you get to share it with them! Come join us at the Playhouse every Thursday where you and your toddlers will join our amazing instructors in singing songs, playing instruments, dancing with new friends, and discovering our love of music together. (ages 2-3)
Winter/Spring Production - Lights up! It’s Showtime! This is where our performers will rehearse for the winter/spring full show production! We will be producing a winter play and spring musical. Auditions will be held within the class. Keep a close eye out for our show announcements! *Must be enrolled in at least 1 other Playhouse class in addition to the production! (ages 4+)
